Kanon De Labarde
On 16th October, Team DO Dressage said goodbye to Kanon de Labarde (Kenny). Kenny was 25 and had enjoyed a happy retirement for the last few years but the hard decision was not taken lightly. Kenny’s welfare was of the utmost importance to us.
Kenny was an international Grade A star, and was produced by Robert Bevis, coming second in the Foxhunter final (1.45) at Horse of the Year show in 2005 after a nail-biting jump-off where they held the lead until the last combination.
He then showed Cecilia the ropes as a schoolmaster and enabled her to gain experience jumping 1.30s, enjoying success at this level – and teaching her how to ride open waters!
When it was time for Kenny to take a step down, Maria competed him in British Dressage
competitions at Medium level, achieving success there too.

He then taught Kate to ride – he was a gentle soul with her and took care of beginners who were learning with him.
Kenny was an easy, happy-go-lucky boy who charmed everyone he met and always greeted you in the morning with his ears pricked and a happy head over the stable door. He had a big personality –
and a lust for treats – and is sorely missed.

Thank you Team, for all turning out to see Kenny over the rainbow bridge and giving him the send-
off he deserved. Thank you Lingfield Equine Vets, for your professionalism and care.
